Hi - Stumbled across the forum and after a quick browse thought I would join. Just getting back into my hobby as a 20yr-old apprentice engineer and before real life intervened.

Was a Canon A-1 user and now use a Nikon D5600 and loving it (but spending too much time in Lightroom).

Thanks,

Peggy

Welcome, Peggy! I love Lightroom, but I'm finding the more I use it the easier the tweaks get, so less time choosing what processing to do. LOTS of online tutorials out there to help you use it. And lots of advice on this forum, too.

Hi Peggy, I'm new here too. Here is a tip that I hope helps. No doubt that since the origins of photography there has always been a lab dimension. Today, instead of a wet lab we have LR and of cause Photoshop. Now our cameras have also evolved to the point that when we know how to use them properly, you can avoid having to do too much post work by getting your shots as close as you want. For example, in camera cropping meaning get your angle of view as close as what you need, using manual to get correct exposure almost every time, keeping your camera straight... Etc. Now by getting your shot in camera as close to what you want you will save oodles of time in front of your computer and have more time to be out having fun with your camera. Now an other benefit is that if you have taken a really good shot, you can then play with it in LR changing filters or whatever you want to get creative but from a good starting point. Enjoy. Peter

Welcome Peggy - that sounds like a familiar story. I’m also up in New England and have problems because there are too many great places to go with my camera. I also started with the d5xxx series after over a decade break. The forum here can teach so much - search your questions and there are probably hundreds of posts to look through. Just let us know what you need and you should get some great help.

Have you met any of the rock stars from the 60's? Kinks/DC5/Hermans Hermits or Freddie and the Dreamers?

I’m a 100% bloke (you may need to Google that).

It was my nickname at school after my sole came off playing football (sorry, soccer) one time. You can imagine my gait as I was running around and the hilarity of my school pals. Then the name stuck. Forever.

Lol. No

But, true story, I worked with a lady from near Liverpool. As a 16-yr old she used to sneak into the Cavern to see the Beatles (18 is legal drinking age here BTW) just prior to them becoming massive. At home she had a framed show program from the era signed ‘To xxxx, love and kisses John, Paul, George and Ringo’. Probably worth $$$s now.
