I have not tried either of these types of prints. I'm looking for opinions of one over the other as well as recommendations for which lab to process them. I'm in central California so Bay Photo is close enough to drive to. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Have never had an acrylic print, but just recently got my first metal print from Sam's Club. I am blown away with the glossy, sharp beauty. Doubt I'll do any more canvas.

Since you are in central CA you might want to look at a lab in Aptos called Laserlight - http://laserlightprints.com - I have found their aluminum prints superior to Bay and MPIX. They all "pop" as expected, but somehow the stock material Laserlight uses has a nicer depth to it.

I also use a Florida based company called FractureMe (https://fractureme.com) when I want something in that genre.

Generally speaking, of the two methods I prefer aluminum, but the only way for you to really see for yourself is to get something printed in each process.

Check out "aluminyze.com". I used this company for my 1st metal print
and was blown away with the results. They are here on the East coast out
of New York city and are currently offering a 1st time: 30% off & free shipping.
I highly recommend them!

Check out Robin Imaging in Cincinnati, Ohio. They ship all over the country and have amazing quality on acrylics with metallic paper and various metal options as clear gloss, white gloss, satin, etc. Stunning work. Family owned and great service for over several decades. https://www.robinimaging.com/

Thanks. I will definitely check out Laserlight. Aptos is just 45 minutes from my house.

I am in Toronto and have my work finished by GTA Imaging. I have had both acrylic and metal prints. Both are excellent. Thee acrylic gives the image more depth and provides a 3D effect whilst the metal gives the image a sharpness and lustre. My waterfall images look better in acrylic and my sunsets look better on metal.
