The movie was pretty good although somewhat inacurate in that the 50 prisoners were not executed altogether. They were shot individually as they were captured, scattered all over the countryside as each one was caught over the course of many days.
You're right though, most of the actors are probably dead now.
I saw where they interviewed a survival in his 90s, bless his heart, you never forget. I use to volunteer at the VA clinic here in town and I asked a Vietnam Vet what his MOS was in Vietnam and he told me he was a Tunnel Rat. I asked him that was pretty bad duty and he told me that when his time to leave VN he left all his memories there and doesn't think of it. I tip my hat to him. You know I bet it makes you appreciate life a little more.
