I am new here and to drones. I am wondering what is the general rule of thumb for flying on a windy day. If there is a slight breeze is that a no fly day or do you gauge if you should fly by experience. My drone did not come with much detail, no real manual to speak of. Anyway, any tips you have would be welcomed.

Well from my limited experience, I'd say it depends on the drone you have along with your experience. My Mavic Pro Platinum handled moderate wind very well but I wouldn't want to fly it in heavy or gusty winds. My little Spark - Ha, Love it but gotta be calm for that one. Sure is fun though.

most suggest that if wind speed is over 12-15 mph, not to fly. The higher you get agl, the windier it gets.

Not sure what you have, but the software for the Mavic Pro will post a warning on your monitor when the drone experiences wind gusts. If the warning appears I take it down. One of the real dangers is having the drone tipped by a gust to a vertical orientation in which case the bird will plummet out of control to earth.

Thank you Irvingite Charles, I should have mentioned the type of drone I have...it is a Phantom 4

Thank you windshoppe, I have a Phantom 4. I have been timid about flying in any wind so I am not sure if my software would warn me or not. I will have to do some reseach. Thanks again!
