Great shot to start with. Improved with Raydances's cropping.

By the way....I shot this with my Panasonic Lumix P&S....really would like some comments....is this a good shot?

Yes it is a good shot...the bird is a bit overexposed and the foreground is a bit congested. If I were setting up this shot...I would try to simplify the shot as much as possible. That would mean getting closer to eliminate the plants in the foreground... get lower so the driftwood was in the foreground and there was less water filling the shot.
Of course by then the bird would have flown away, I'd have drenched feet and be cussing at myself for not just taking the shot as it was.
So....yes it is a good shot!

Thanks....I couldn't get any closer.....I was concerned about the foreground being congested.....your comments are very helpful.

I don't know if you can crop the image so the birds are on the 1/3 left sector. It appears that moving right would be blocked by a bush/terrain. I wonder if you had moved left if you couldn't have the birds towards the left sector and still captured the foreground fallen tree trunk. What were the TV, A, ISO settings? You captured a wonderful, peaceful setting!

F/5.9 1/200 sec iso-100. I had some time to change my position (left or right) and tried it but there were objects blocking either birds or trunk. That's why I shot it from that angle. I couldn't get any closer without getting into hazardous area (snakes/gators). Thanks for your comments. I will be able to get back to this spot and maybe get a another chance.

Sounds like congestion prevents using a tripod/monopod. Speed at 1/200 should be plenty fast for hand held, might bump A to f/8 and ISO at 400. The fun is trying to make a tack sharp image. Good Luck!
