Aforementioned pics of retirement shoot. Are these acceptable to give to my coworker? I'll use your responses to process the rest of the batch
How could they not love them?
Thank you Katy, 1st time so depending on you all for unbiased opinion
👍
A little sensitive cropping here, straightening the verticals and horizontals there, and perhaps a little experimentation with the light settings (e.g. color, saturation, contrast, etc.), and these will be perfect mementos for the Retiree & Friends.
Why wouldn't they be acceptable? Any photo taken of a friend or loved one.
They are nice snapshots--I think they’d be liked.
I really do not see much here other than candid snapshots that were not made by a pro, sorry (came from the main discussion).
The color balance if off resulting is sick skin tones.
Most suffer from a direct flash and create too much skin highlights.
I hope you shot in raw so that you can save some stuff but honestly, by your own description in the main channel you might feel relieved that folks with their phones have better images to offer. This is the time to acknowledge you are not ready for prime time and give the $$$ back if you got paid.
Learn to bounce the light would go a long toward solving the flash issues.
Rongnongno, appreciate your response, the flash was pointed up and behind me so it wasn't direct, these pictures aren't completely processed as I stated and if you understood what you were reading, you would know I took a picture of the screen from my laptop so there is glare etc... basically it's not accurate.you would also know I stated this is my first shoot and I am fully aware I'm not a "professional" YET. But thanks for your honesty, appreciated, I must learn how to compensate for heavily applied makeup etc.... I'll get there, you are a true model of encouragement
Indoor shooting is very difficult, I think. Light fixtures and chandeliers and EXIT signs ruin so many shots! One option next time might be asking to set up a simple ‘photo op’ location at the function/party. Guests can group thenselves there for not-so-candid candids where you have prepped the lighting and can avoid background interference and distractions. Don’t need backdrops—just some pre-planning.
Thank you dbfalconer, great idea, that exact set of lighting and it's issues is what I learned real quick
