Looking specifically for the OLD version. Non OS. Should be about 5” long and only 780g with the 67mm dia filter. Not interested in the newer one (OS, 8”, 1380g)
Pm if you have one in good or better condition that is gathering dust on your shelf

There are actually THREE versions of this lens, the original APO version from early 2006, then the APO II version from 2008 which improved slightly on the CA issues of the first as well as focused slightly faster. Physically both these versions were identical and both take the same 67mm filters.
The third generation introduced in late 2012 was the sharpest by far, but much larger and almost twice as heavy due to adding 3 more optical elements, increased to 15 groups from 14, and had 6 SLD elements compared to only 4 in the earlier versions. It also added OS. It did still present noticeable CA, but at a much narrower range of the zoom. It takes a 77mm filter.
All 3 do have some distortion at certain focal lengths, but none are bad enough to be disconcerting. They do make very good sports lenses for those shooting with crop sensor cameras. Apparently you are looking for the older versions for their smaller size and less weight. Good hunting!
@MT Shooter. Thank you so much for the clarification.
To any potential sellers, I am looking for the 2008 APO II version only
I would seriously consider the OS version, it is sharper by far, one review site states it is the sharpest zoom they have reviewed (at that time of course). I have been shooting with one on canon 60d for 5 years and would not trade it for anything! It even does very well with the sigma 1.4x converter
Thanks for the thought, but the extra weight and length do not interest me. Wil be using for indoor sports handheld. The reviews I saw said the OS version is not any better than the 2nd generation.
Sounds like you like the lens overall. Hope someone has one that they might be willing to part with for a reasonable price.

look on ebay. There are several of the APO II version for Nikon listed at what seem to be good prices.
OK, after much nail biting, I pulled the trigger and ordered the one from KEH (the ones I found on ebay were for the newer OS version).
We shall see.....

Have 2 of these at work.
With this and the Nikon 17-55, one would be on the way to a
“Trinity” for DX cameras.
Enjoy your new lens!
@goofyNewfie.
Thanks. This will be new to me. Still at the start of building my collection. This lens was purchased specifically as I needed a fairly fast (light and AF speed) lens for small, dark, school gyms to shoot sports. This is where my 70-200 2.8 was just too long.
As you know this lens, let me ask you. If you were to take this lens, or a Nikon DX 16-85 f2.8-4 zoom as your single walk around lens for a trip to Washington DC for general family sightseeing, which would you take (only taking the one). I am leaning to the new sigma, but would like your opinion. (FYI -those are the only two choices, at least at this time.

For my tastes, the 16-85 would be a great choice.
I have one and it's a pretty decent lens.
The 50-150 is too long for sightseeing.
