Just back from the rodeo in Poplar Bluff, MO. While the other 1,200 pics are downloading I started at the beginning, during a "dark mouse" intro.
Interesting evening playing in manual mode with mostly wide open with ISO variations. What was bright to the naked eye was dim to the EF 100-400 Canon 1:4.5 tele. (D5 M iv) 1/90, 32000iso, f5.6. Cropped to about 60% of frame.
More to follow. I'll keep this particular thread to the personality pics.
Hi! I like it too! The figure is in just the right position to create a nice composition! It's just too bad that those posters distract a bit. It's a "keeper" anyway! -- Jackie
Given that I had driven 150 miles and invested my weekend in the event... I saw no reason not to shoot everything I could imagine. I always wanted to be a cowboy... Had a farm and horses for 10 years. Love the families involvement in the lifestyle, history and animal husbandry. Looking around the colosseum most people, from toddlers to grand parents, were wearng boots, and and hats. The parking lots were 90% pickup trucks. The animals looked muscular and in great condition... as opposed to the riders who looked a bit beat-up but were in good spirits.

I agree, but they are part of the rodeo scene... ( or seen). Not to mention that the sponsors are so crucial to the success of the industry.
