I was experiencing the exact same problem. I started to suspect some setting had changed because I got this message that kept coming up when I shut the camera off: Tracking will continue after shutting down" also like you said, the battery held a charge for only a day or two even without use.
Why this kind of function is a toggle switch on the outside of the camera is beyond me. How about a menu function for a feature that, if switched, kills the fully charged battery without doing any shooting!
