Whatever it its.
Taken last Saturday near the beginning of the BIG South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. It started out as a music festival, but expanded into film, comedy, and some electronics. Hundreds of acts are expected over the 10 days of the festival. Most every music festival I've been to or heard about, it takes place in a local park, a large auditorium, or some farmer's back 30 acres. Not in Austin. Too big. So they turned the various nightclubs and taverns into separate venues. Thus, a club might have one act from 7:00-8:30, another act from 8:30-10:00, etc. Likewise for the other venues. The audience transports itself, usually by foot, from one place to the next. A schedule for each venue is published so the audience knows where to go to see the acts they are most interested in. As the majority of venues are downtown, the city blocks off a number of streets to facilitate things during the most popular times (like weekends). People buy passes ahead of time to make it easier going into the clubs. So you would pay ahead for a Saturday, a weekend, or the whole thing. Then you hang your pass around your neck. You'll see these in some of the photos.
That must have been a good show!
Nice photo, too.
