I have one for Nikon that I used when shooting with the camera on or close to the ground. Flip screens and live view make it less necessary for me.

My Panasonic GX8 has a viewfinder that tilts up and I love it. It is especially useful for getting close to the ground while stooping but I also use it to shoot straight up at ceiling and domes. It also reduces back strain for shooting on a tripod with a low point of view.

I just got one of these for low angle landscapes and astro photography. It allows me to view the shot without getting into some of the crazy positions I used to have to. You can angle toward the milky way and see the view without having to crawl under the camera to get to the view finder, or very low at a water fall without having to lay in the stream.

I use it when the camera is on a tripod, looking down instead of arching my back.
I can kneel with the camera low.
I can put the camera at ground level and look into the viewfinder MUCH easier.
Mine rotates 90° for portrait shooting.
It's really handy!

I have just learned that there is a right angle viewer, part DR-6, for my Nikon. The write-up says that it provides a 90 degree view for framing & composing your image at right angles to the original viewfinder. I love gadgets but I cannot fathom how a rt. angle viewer would work, or why it would be at all useful.

Please help me understand the how & why of this strange gadget.

Years ago, I had one on a Nikon FM I used for copystand work. It kept me from having to stand on a ladder to look down through the finder.

Now, I have a Lumix GH4 with a fully articulating OLED display that serves the same purpose. It’s great for on-the-ground or above-the-head work. It is FAR BETTER than any right angle finder accessory ever could be!

I have one so I don't have to bend my old body as much to take a photo, esp closeups or macro.

I have one for every camera (including movie cameras), had them for more than 40 years and I love them. I wouldn't have cameras if I did not have angle finders! Every time you have to put your camera, were it is hard or almost impossible to look through the viewfinder, the angle finder saves the day/moment!

"Right-Angle" View attachment.

Being that some people are LEFT-HANDED - Can the "Right-Angle" Attachment be used by a Left-Handed person?

Yes, and an ambidextrous person also.

No. They would require a Left-Angle viewer.

I had one for my film camera many years ago. The only use I found for it was when I wanted to place the
camera at ground level for a pronounced up angle on the subject. >Alan
