I'm stuck at home this morning with the latest snow storm expected to bring another 18"- 24". Thought it might be a good time to post some of my pictures from my recent trip to Martinique.
Martinique is the most beautiful of the Caribbean islands we have visited so far. Officially, Martinique is part of France the very same as Brittany or Provence. Although Martinique has the full flavor of the Caribbean, Islanders are French citizens and enjoy all of the benefits of French and EU social services. Standards for roads and buildings are much higher than some of its neighboring islands and it escaped pretty well unscathed from last years hurricanes. As in Europe, a percentage of public works budgets must be dedicated to works of art so elaborate sculptures abound. Visitors and Expats from France can be seen walking home from the local boulangerie with their bagets under their arms every morning.
Nicknamed 'The Island of Flowers', Martinique has a diverse landscape ranging from high mountain rain forests in the North to fertile plains of sugar cane and bananas in the central area and long sandy beaches in the South.
'No frills' airline Norwegian Air was offering direct flights from Providence RI for $99 one way which was too good to pass up. New planes, friendly staff, normal seat space, on time - great service.
Today is the third snow storm since we got home 12 days ago
Excellent, beautiful set. Fabulous composition. Loved all of these but, for whatever reason, the table setting really caught my eye. Well done and thanks for sharing!
The Martinique tourism board should defintely be paying you.

Great colourful series Phil, love the variety. Keep safe and warm.
Nice set of a beautiful place. Thanks
The table setting caught my eye, it reminds me of a Vermeer painting.
These are delightful, Phil! I love your eye for composition and all the tropical colors are very cheerful!
Very nice set...it looks like a creature coming out of the water.
Thanks for all of the kind compliments folks.
I'm surprised nobody commented on the hummer shot. It is actually my first attempt at any sort of B.I.F. and I am pleased with the results. Hand held. It could be a little sharper, but they are wily rascals.
I really liked the 7th shot. Looks like a dog's (black lab) head sticking up out of the water. The two sail boats make upside-down teeth. Never got to see that scene when we were there.
