Today the Cosplay community was having a "yard sale" at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. They traded, swapped, sold and bought books, posters, outfits, wigs and everything else anime while running around in wonderful costumes. I take photos whenever I go so they can show off their hard work. Today, I was not in the mood for this and the pictures show it. Editing might help some later but for now... this is what I got to show.

I like the last one. She reminds me of Captain Hook. The second one scares me a little bit; is that a French Loaf shes carrying around? I do have to admit thought that if they all made those themselves I give them props because there's no way I could sew and make clothes. I still don't know how I passed the sewing part of Home Ec.

In the second photo she is holding a loaf of french bread. That is Teto and the food she is paired with in the anime is french bread. I included a photo of the actual character so you can see how well she did with the outfit. The anime character does wear purple head phones but the cartoon is not showing them well. She is not an evil character despite the red eyes LOL.
The girls make their own costumes and help each other complete them. It is possible to buy them online but they are very expensive. I will be assisting my daughter in building a set of horns for a new outfit she is working on. Not looking forward to that but it keeps a smile on her face.

The real Teto

You are right. She did do a great job on that costume. I think they all look good. I have never been able to get into anime, but for those who are into it it is good that they have something. It's kind of like us being into photography. We have this they have that. It's also great that you are going to help your daughter. A lot of dads might not want to do that because they think it is crazy, but it is good that you are supporting her with what makes her happy. I hope she has a lot of fun and that you get more pics. I would like to see some more.

Cosplay is short for "costume play". is a type of performance art in which participants wear costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Cosplayers gather together at events centred around role playing.

Most of the characters are from a type of cartoon called anime (Japanese animation). Pokemon, Full Metal Alchemist, Inuyasha, Naruto, and Bleach are just a few of the anime shows on TV.

Manga are the comic book stories, many not yet in animation, kind of like DC comics when we were young. The characters from Manga are also likely to be seen around the cosplay event.

Kids have kept me young? LOL
I grew up with Felix, Heckle and Jeckle and Woody Woodpecker. I even remember Howdy Doody although not well.
I remember my family's first color TV and the new FM radio. My first stereo had 8 track.

Now my daughter is on the internet getting the latest episode of some anime from Japan because it will not be released in the states for months... or even years.
I feel old when I have no idea what my kids are talking about so I make them keep me updated. I am still old but I can pretend I am not.
