I am just starting to get into photography. Have taken a course here at the local community center...learned a bunch, and made a friend in the instructor I believe.
I have no interest in becoming a professional, doing weddings, ect. I just want to take pictures for myself...at my age I could care what anyone else really thinks.
I'm a Navy retired Master Chief Petty Officer that was medically retired with 22 years in. Wouldn't let them operate on my back so they retired me.
The VA paid for my BS in accounting and I paid for my Masters in accounting. Worked as a asst. controller for a company in SC until I retired and took my social security. Then I taught part time at the local community college.
Moved to MO 2 years ago...had back surgery last year and still trying to recover from that. When I get to where I can stand for over an hour, walk for some distance I will teach part time here.
That's all folks
Welcome. Thank you for your service. Do you have a camera yet?
Welcome to UHH. You'd be surprised at how photography will distract you from aches, pains, life's responsibilities, etc.

Welcome from another 70 year old that started taking pictures when I was about 24. This is a great forum to learn much about photography. Good shooting.
Welcome to the world of photography. I probably started around age 68. I am now 75 and I will have to say, it has changed my life. Whole new worlds open up. You see things differently because you are thinking in terms of how it could look on the camera. You learn about new things. You get out and explore and get more exercise. I started out being most interested in macro or close up photography and have graduated this winter to Eagles and Deer. Its all good. Oh, and did I say, you now have a place to spend any extra money that might come your way.....on camera gear. I keep saying I have my last camera. but somehow.......
Good luck and be sure and post your pictures. Lots of good feedback on here. I learned a lot from the Ugly Hedgehog site.

72 and been taking pictures since I was 12 and enjoying the digital side of this hobby. Welcome to the forum.
Hello you! Not quite 70 here. Planning my next camera purchase soon. I started with a nikkormat, then Nikon F2 then Nikon D70. I’ve done photography professionally, as art, for my family memories and now I have thousands of film prints and 25,000 digital photos to do something with. I’ll figure it out how to complete what I started so to share them. It’s ok but I want an easier and lighter camera now. Good luck. You will really enjoy photography, I can tell. And thank you for your service.

Welcome to UHH. I'll turn 70 in August.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
Yes I do...Canon T6 I got about a year and half ago. Also a Nikon D2x I got on ebay. Bought my partner a Nikon from the local pawn shop..she went to the course locally here with me. Got the D2x on a whim..I like it a lot! Makes you think about setting.
Just switched from Nikon 750 to Fuji X-T2. Love it.
