Among the birds feeding this afternoon were a few California Towhees. Not only after the bird seed but checking the cracks in the retaining wall for insects.
5DIV, 100-400L mk2 + 1.4x III @ 560, 1/400 @ f/8.0, ISO 1600 hand held cloudy bright at about 20'.
I'll put up a few more of the species that took part in the feeding frenzy tomorrow.

Thank you. Yes pretty but with almost no outstanding color patterns over most of the body. It would take a lot of manipulation to use as part of my feather pattern series. To quote "All About Birds": "Few birds are as uniformly matte brown as a California Towhee. A patch under the tail (called the crissum, giving the bird its scientific name) is a noticeably warmer ruddy brown. Males look the same as females."
