I'm a stock photographer and always looking for new models. Recently two of my main people left... health and marriage... and I found myself looking hard for replacements. I was recenty approved as a memeber of Model Mayhem but I have some hesittations about using it. Anyone have any experience with them?

I have and still on occasion use M.M. The site is reliable the models or wanna be models are another story, there are some very good and reliable young ladies posting, you will just have to weed them out. I find this with paid and TFP/TFCD.

I have several friends who are on MM. Try Chelsea Christian on MM. She travels and is a great model. It helps if let people know where you are! in florida try Florida Modeling Network, in Colorado The Colorado modeling Network.

unfortunately many of the models are young teenage girls who are not always very reliable.

I've found several models there -- mainly amateurs like me. The site itself works well.

I've used about 12 models from MM, all local ones. Every one of them except one turned out to be great and knew what to do in posing. As for MM itself, you can get VERY selective in the type of model you want, male or female, height, weight, hair color, eye color, petite through heavy, nude or non-nude, etc., and some will even work for TFP/CD or, especially for brand new ones, they'll work just for the experience. I've found it to be totally above board and recommend the site to anyone. The website is: www.modelmayhem.com and you can see models from all over the world, where they're from, physical measurements, the types of modeling they'll do, and, of course, photos. But to plug in EXACTLY what you're looking for in a model, you'll have to join the site which involves creating your own port and posting some photos.

If you joined, you should have been given an MM# for yourself, which is what allows you to contact models by THEIR MM#.....it's all internal. The only other way to contact them is if the model happens to list a contact email address OTHER THAN Model Mayhem in his/her bio page.
OK, let me make this easier.....go to MM's homepage, www.modelmayhem.com; at the top, you will see several tabs that link you with various things on the website. Look for the tab called "Browse." Click it. On the following page, you'll be able to start choosing from various dropdown boxes. The first dropdown lets you choose the artist type. If you're looking for a model, with your cursor, select "Model." The next one lets you choose Male or Female. Underneath the gender, you can select one of two options: either view only the name and photo OR get complete details which will include a photo of the model, where they are from, and every other bit of information that the model chooses to list, including other photos they allow you to see. Under that dropdown is one that lets you choose the activity level the model has on MM: new, last activity, recently updated, longest on MM OR if you happen to know the name of the model, you can type it in. Next, you can choose the location; for example, if you live in Orlando, Florida, with your cursor select "Florida," and then you can select Orlando OR you can type in your zip code and also select a viewing of models that live 5 miles from your zip code, or 10 or 15 or 25 or 50 or 100 miles. Finally, you'll have to type in the security phrase that you see so MM's computers can make sure you're not entering the site with a virus or something. And that's it. It sounds like a lot of steps but once you do it a couple of times, it's a cinch from then on.
When you get to the model's portfolio page, you can click on a link directly underneath his/her picture that will take you to the photos he/she has included for viewing. When you get to the photo page, each photo can then be enlarged for better viewing, simply by putting your cursor anywhere on the photo and then clicking.
One final thing about the photos, many models will choose to keep their photos private unless you are an MM member. If you're just there browsing, you won't see any image at all and it will tell you that the photo is for viewing only by MM members. But, if you ARE a member, then EVERY photo will be available for you to see and that means you'll have to login with the MM# you were given.
Happy hunting!

I have been a member of MM for several years and use their models a lot. There are a lot of young wanna-be models on there, some of who tend to be unreliable. Best go for the older ones who have a good portfolio and be prepared to pay a fair modeling fee. TFP or CDFP is really a waste of time unless you are just learning yourself. Good models expect to be paid, especially for nude work. Just sign in and then message the model of your choice with your requirements. Build up your own portflio first though, with at least a dozen good images, illustrating your expertise and the kind of work you do etc. If you are doing stock work, it is very competetive as you might have found out but there are many suitable models on MM. Be honest and tell them what the end use of the photos will be and ensure that you have a suitable model release. PM me if you need any further advice. Good luck..............Rico
