Our nephews have been flying out from Virginia every year since they were toddlers. They are now college freshmen at Virginia Tech and Penn State. This is the first time either of them have expressed an interest in photography. So we have been taking photo walks this week after familiarizing themselves with the cameras and going over basics on exposure and composition. Luck was with us several times, especially when we walked up on the rattlesnake. So here are several from their endeavors. There is still lots to work on in exposure, but I think they are doing quite well so far with their composition.

Looks like #4 - the beach scene with girls - is terribly out of focus. That damned bird flew in front of your camera and messed up the autofocus!
Otherwise, nice set - really nice light on the GBH in the first photo!

The Heron was one of three in the palm tree. He just gave the best pose.
I agree about the dang bird messing up the shot. Butt they will keep trying because the beach is loaded with local fauna.

Very good series.
I agree. I just went ahead and got them a starter camera. They have a year to improve and refine their techniques. But they are also in college so they already have a few things to keep them occupied. I am just glad to see them take an interest in something other than sports.
There are lots of photo ops at VT. Spend a lot of time there. The War Memorial at sunset is always a favorite. GO HOKIES !
