We were traveling in the Serengeti when a sudden torrential rainstorm began. Our guides flew around the jeep dropping canvas and attaching windows to prevent us from becoming soaked. No one could see anything, but soon we could hear the excited trumpeting of a nearby group of elephants. After no rain for many weeks, the party was about to begin....right next to us. I squeezed my body out of the window and with my daughter hanging onto me by my belt, I was able to watch and photograph their joyful mudbathing, hugging and trumpeting as they celebrated nature's bountiful gift. By the way...getting back into the jeep was a lot more difficult than getting out!
