I am planning a trip to Upper Antelope Canyon, Az where I will take pictures of Slot Canyons. I have a Nikon D5100 with an 18-55 3.5-5.6 lens and a 55-300 4.5-5.6 lens. Having never visited this location, which one of these two lens will be best suited for this trip. If you are not knowledgeable of the canyon, existing photos are avaiable on Antelopecanyon.com. Thx for your help. jack

Hi Jak
I would get a nice little back pack and take both. You have everything covered then. Or you could go out and get the new Nikon 18-300. :) I think it is going for around $900. If you don't like it you can give it to me when you get back. :)

I have a friend who brought back some incredible photos from a slot canyon. He used a wide angle lens for all of them. Good luck and post your results.

If you can only take one I would suspect that you would get more utility out of the zoomer.

I would take both, one for close up work and the other for long distance shots. Also I would take two (new) microfibre cleaning cloth, one for cleaning other to protect your camera while the lense is off. They have different types !! I remember when i went on a shooting exp over in Oban, came back dint have nothing with me but my lense was soaked ruined some shots.
