My backyard

I know, I know... rule of thirds broken, among other rules. It's just because I like this shot and it's in my own backyard. Gonna have to add a feeder because it's squirrel and bird friendly. I might be able to set my tripod up in the barn's window to get some cool shots of the feeders.

That pond could use a turtle. Or does it already have one?

There are two that we know of and my wife picked another off the road a few days ago but put it in a nearby area with a stream. We need no more rescued pets... 4 dogs, 5 cats, one horse and off in the cypress woods you see, I think she keeps a lion or a few bears, I wouldn't doubt.

How do you like your 80D and 35-155?

Hi, lmTrying. Thanks for looking in.
I am really attached to the 80D, although I've only my older SL1 to compare with. The 18-135 is a great walk around lens. When I know I'll need a longer reach I grab the T 18-400 which can be a bit of a challenge at the farther reaches and then needs stabilization but closer in is just fine. When I'll be working on the street or in the garden the 18-135 is lighter and more compact.
I'm going to Iceland in July and will take two lenses: my 17-50 and the 18-400. I have been practicing using the 18-400 to get used to the longer reach and my camera settings to get the best out of it, otherwise I use my 18-135.

SWFeral... By the way, my wife said she's only seen one of the turtles this passed week. On to greener pastures?
Several years ago we had a small (2 foot) alligator in there and had to get animal control to remove it to protect our pets.
Thanks, Larry

Thanks Leicaflex... Love my property. I'll post my front yard soon. I have 20 acres, much of it woodland and the pond gets an occasional heron, but I'm never close enough or fast enough to capture a shot.

I consider the "rule" of thirds to be just more of a guideline. The edge of the tree touches the vertical third and the top of the pond touches the horizontal third, so you're good.
