Where to go in Tucson I was stationed there in the Air Force for four years. “A” Mountain is a good place to go to get a picture of all the two side especially at night. You also have old Tucson where a lot of westerns were filmed. I worked around the old aircraft graveyard when only military personnel could go In that area. And now that it is a museum part of it is if you can see all type of aircraft.
Mt. Lemon, Senora Desert Museum, are a couple more. I served there also when I was in the Air Force.
Mt. Lemmon
Sabino Canyon
Saguero National Park
Pima Air & Space Museum
University of Arizona
Mission San Xavier Del Bac
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
Reid Park Zoo
Gaslight Theatre
Little Anthony’s Diner
Pima County Courthouse
Barrio Historico (old district) neighborhood
Tucson Symphony
Fourth Avenue retail district
Arizona Inn historic hotel and gardens
...to name just a random few. Suggest you get a guide book and enjoy! A truly great city.
Drive a few hours to Tombstone.
Just for something other than cacti, I’d add too wet lands: Agua Caliente Park and Sweetwater Wetlands Park. For birds, try Madera Canyon near Green Valley.
I would certainly add Tohono Chul Park, an Arboretum, inside the city limits of Tucson. Of particular focus is the interpretation of the interaction with the cacti and the native population carried out throughout the entire park. Also, there is a geological interpretive garden showing the deep base of fill in the Tucson Valley and the history of the canal system of the ancients.
OOppps! I meant to say that the Tohono Chul “canal system” should have been an Irrigation System!
I would add: The Cup Cafe in the Hotel Congress in Tucson's downtown area. The Cup Cafe has very good food with inside and outside dining. Not super cheap, but worth it. Back in the 1030's, one of the guests at the Hotel Congress was the famous/infamous bank robber, John Dillinger. Also, check out the Tucson Museum of Art. It's displays of contemporary art is, in my opinion, hardly worth the trip - not that it matters, but I happen to be an artist - but they have a separate wing that houses western art, which I think is well worth the effort... Good luck to you.
Great suggestions and you probably won't have time for them all. However, if you've ever seen the movie Tombstone, then the town of Tombstone is an hour or 2 south of Tucson and it's a great take. Boothill is all redone with headstones depicting who shot who, etc. I loved it and took many pics. they also do a reenactment of the ok coral shootout. I caught them walking down the street just like the movie then sat in the stands and got the gunfight with smoke coming out of their guns. there's a lot of old buildings there, a mine, etc. If this turns you on it 's a great take. I loved it.

All of the above is good advice. Been to Tucson for many years for the Gem and Mineral Show ,biggest of its kind in the world, and visited most of the recommended places.
And a bit further afield, the Chiricahuas and Bisbee are great places for a day trip. The former have some great rock formations and Bisbee is an old mining town turned artists' colony with a really interesting mine tour.
