my friend was dying of cancer and wanted a shot of himself with his beloved truck to have on display at his life party. here's what I came up with, before and after.

I found it very difficult to make his silvery-gray truck look silvery and not just plain gray.

My suggestion is to use a Circular Polarizer. That will reduce some of the reflection giving it a more silvery appearance.

Job well done for friend, even at sad time in life. God Be With You and His Family at this time.

Love what you've done to your friend and his beloved truck. BUT why oh why are they sinking in the lake? The far background is acceptable but maybe get rid of the immediate foreground and have them both on solid ground.

I like the redo but would definitely not have the truck in the water!!!!!!
Also Mask the woods in the far background so they are back to normal....

His name was Ken and his wife's name is Barbie.

They have a place on a lake but couldn't get there for a pic so he asked if I could make it look like the truck was at the edge of the water.

The rest is just a little over exuberance in pp.

Thanks, all, for your comments. They are appreciated.

Bill, you did great.

I had a similar request 7 years ago and still get a warm feeling when I see the photo that is hanging on my wall.

I'm glad you were able to honor your friend, and he was happy with your results. I always pray to do a good job on people's portraits. You never know when it will be their last one. And that has happened several times in my life; young and old. We do not know how much time we have here on earth. Make every minute count!

I like what you've done with the second photo except for the water around the truck.
