Ron, when I got my Nikon P510 in 200? I was very happy with it. I'm sure you will like the P900 very much. Forgive me though I'm a Nikon person. My new first DSLR was the D3300 in 2015. I'm now learning to get out of auto mode, and point and shoot with right iso , aperture , and shutter speed.
Hi Ron -- While I'm not familiar with the Sony, I do own the Nikon P900 and have recommended it to several people as a camera that has an incredible zoom and does really well with a lot of different photo subjects. I've used it at sporting events, photographing birds, as well as grizzly bears and wolves from a great distance. It is only because of the incredible zoom that I was able to get the wolf and the bear clearly -- otherwise would have been a definite no-go on photos of those. I would definitely recommend it. It is easy to hand-hold, has a great grip and the zoom mechanism is easy to work -- whether it is with your right hand (like other point-and-shoots) or with your left on the barrel of the lens. I think you'd be very happy with this camera.

Hi Ron,
I also have a Nikon P900 and think it is a great camera. The zoom is fantastic and you don't have to invest or carry several lenses to get great shots. I highly recommend it.

I've had the P150, loved it, P600, REALLY LOVED it and P900 really really love it. I have Sony a3000 and a6000 which I also love but if I want to carry just one, I take the P900...
I will say that I loved the weight of the P600 better and am sorry I sold it, but the 900 has so much more reach.

The Sony is 20.4 MP, 24-1200 mm Zeiss T* lens (Hasselblad uses Zeiss T* lenses) and costs $448.00.
The Nikon is 16 MP, 24-2000 mm Nikon glass and costs $579.00.
I own the Sony and it is one of the two camera's I take on vacation with me, the other is a Sony HX90V.
I believe both will give you sharp pictures.
Have the Sony DSC HX 300 and really like it. But gets the E6210 lens issue and camera replaced the first time , have the Mack extended warranty that saved the day..... and got the
E6210 error again, so was in the shop 4 more times recently until Sony was able to get a working lens installed. A few times it came back blurry at the wide end and zoom end. But have read that the HX400V also gets the same issue some have said on the net. So the Mack Warranty more then paid off.

I like this camera...a lot. There are a few caveats, though. Does not shoot RAW, confusing manual focus, & I haven’t found the ISO control...if it exists.
Of course I haven’t really read the manual completely.
Lastly, you get the 2000mm only with Digital Zoom & apparently in Automatic Mode.
I probably have more reading to do.

Would I buy it again? Most certainly, and I did.. One for my wife to replace a P510. I have a Nikon 7100 and a P900. If I had to give up one, it would be the 7100.
Between the two, I would pick the P900, simply because of the much longer reach of the lens.
Thanks for feed back,,keep them comin ?? the P900 felt good in hand and the Sony felt a bit like Plastic and chunky,,I have a Canon 7D and some nice glass,,,before i put out $600 for the BIG P900 i would just use my 7D and 400mm L...guess i have NOT found my long zoom as of yet ??
Cheers Ron
I recommend the P900 for it's telephoto. Have taken lots of pictures with it where my 18-200 wouldn't work. Also there's a new camera on the market made by Panasonic called the Lumix DC-ZS70 that also has a 20 megapixel sensor, and has a 24-720 lens(35 mm eq.) plus many other features to make your head swim.
