1. Take the fully charged battery with you....Not at home in the charger.
2. Focus on the 1st or second burst...Not on the tree in the next yard.
3. Check your equipment...Don't have the set screw on tripod stripped and camera loose.
4. Take the remote shutter with you...Not on the table at home where you played with it to learn settings.
5. Since you were at your friends house...Tell them there was a major malfunction and shots didn't come out good.

LMAO. I ain't the only one that does crap like that. Thanks Sarge you made me feel better. But we learn from that. All you can do is laugh and plan better.

Yer welcome to borrow some of mine...
If you leave the fully charged battery at home, no further explanation is required.
PS: I only have one battery
Bad Day, Bad Day. Or should I say Night?

Your post made my eyes hurt...I have a new camera, and so far I'm not forgetting to bring along the correct equipment and that's because it's a bridge camera. My problem is I can't remember what buttons to turn or press. I'm not giving up ever, ever..I can do this...

Sarge: did you get promoted to major? :-P
On my new camera i am able to delete without looking at the manual now i just have to learn all the other things.
Don't wait till it's dark to set up for something you have never done before and if you need them, don't forget your glasses. I am hoping to get better shots next go around.
Yep the malfunction was me!

You didn't mention the almighty lens cap.

I wish I had a chance to try fireworks shots. They were banned in most every town in the St. Louis metro area due to the drought. I think only two towns had them, but I didn't want to drive so far or put up with 100k people (STL riverfront). Maybe next year I can show you some of my inevitable screw-ups.
