A6000 case

I have been looking on eBay for various things for my new A6000 Sony. One of the things I saw that interested me was a synthetic rubber case that fits neatly around the body of the camera. It has openings for the screen, top knobs and the battery/memory card opening. It looks like it would be good for drop protection and comes in many colors although I would probably get black. The only thing that concerns me is that the buttons fn, menu etc are covered. On my iPhone case it’s the same thing and I can still use them with additional pressure but I was wondering if anyone has or have tried one of these cases and what experience they had with it. Fairly cheap as they run for about $3-5 including shipping. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I had something similar for a Nikon D60. Frankly more trouble than they are worth.

I have one on my A7Rii. It is a good fit. The buttons and controls work fine but it feels a bit numbing - like sex with a condom (I think! - its been a long time).
I wouldn't rely on it for fall protection, but it should protect against nicks and scratches. It takes a little while to put on because you have to take off the camera strap. You can't just whip it on and off on a whim. It does add a little bit of bulk which could be a good thing on the A6000 and it adds 'grip'. I got black, but a colored one would have been much cooler I think.
I haven't decided if I really want to leave it on. I just couldn't be bothered taking it off at the moment and it doesn't bother me.
For $5 - try it. You may love it.

BTW - Congratulations on your new A6000. Hope you love it as much as I love mine.

I tried a highly rated one (easycover) for my 5D Mk IV. It was hard to press some buttons through it and it didn't fit around the adapter for my Cotton Carrier. So I returned it to B&H.

I have one on both my A7Rii. It helps with holding the camera more firmly. Once you get used to how it feels and how to get to all the buttons you need, then it is ok.

The one modification I made to cover after I got it on was to cut off the hot shoe cover. Cut it below the level of the hot shoe. When this price was on it made putting flash and the wireless commander hard.

I like this cover as it protects the camera from those Nick's and scrapes that happen with use
