Date stamps on photos, do you use them, would you ever? Would you post photos here that show this? What do you do?

When I see this I wonder if it is purposeful or naive. My mom does this, it works for her but what about someone with 10-15 cameras that has a keen interest in photography, I wonder?

How many have you seen here with date stamps? That should answer part of the question.

Time and date are part of my file names, and time & date, along with a ton of additional information are stored within the EXIF info of everyone of my files, of course there is no EXIF info attached to a print, but then you can note time & date or file name on the back

The only time I have used date stamps was when documenting the state of rental property at time of tennant walkthrough. And afterwards, if there was damage, to provide proof that the pictures were taken after move out.

Its all automatically done by the camera, but I do not put that info ever into the picture itself!

Sounds like you are trying to emulate the old film cameras that “burned” a date/time stamp right onto the image with LEDs. The photos looked awful, in my opinion.

Actually, Par, it is so much easier now with digital cameras to label and date your pics without ruining the image itself. I seriously recommend you learn to do it and do it religiously.
I just finished scanning 4000+ photographs I took with previous film cameras over the years, of which many of the cameras had the option to post the date. I did not do so, wishing to not ruin the image at the time, and now wish I had at least that much of a clue to remember many of the photographs histories. Take a clue from this old man and use the label/date option on all your photo's. I bet, sometime in your later life, you will be so glad you did so!!

You can change the date taken in Windows explorer under file properties. Albeit tedious for many files.
What I do in this type of situation since I organize the files by primary subject matter is name the directory with the date:
....\Valley Forge
..........\2013-02
..........\2015-06
..........\2017-09

Nope nope nope nope nope........... You can always find it in the metadata, and it's imported to LR by date.
I shoot for the wall print, or the album, nothing looks worse than a silly date stamp. In an album, if you want the date, you can always print it nicely below the photo, never ON the photo.
Did I mention Nope???
