Thanks for the news! I'm about two weeks from getting my art 107 license and ordering something.

How's the 107 going? I haven't even started yet and really don't know where to begin. Care to give any details of your experience so far? Since we're dealing with the government I'm sure it's complicated and confusing. It sounds like you're dealing with the FAA license but don't own a drone. Isn't that kind of a backwards approach? Just curious.

There's tons of courses out there. Most with a pricetag. FAA site is very helpful. Basic test requires plenty of basic "airman" knowledge. I'll start logging what I encounter. Yes, no drone yet. I didn't have a motorcycle until I had my learner's permit. I plan to move forward at a good pace.

Like with anything there's a learning curve. I fly the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced now. Pretty nice. Not the latest greatest but in my budget. My first drone was the DJI Phantom 2 Vision. I called it my crash test dummy for good reason. It finally ended up in a small lake for all I know. With my P3A I've approached things a lot slower. I've crashed it but haven't lost it. Yet. I'm mainly looking into the residential and commercial real estate market. That the reason I'm asking about the 107. I also enjoy it just from a photography standpoint. It's a whole new perspective shooting from the air. Photos you could never get from the ground.

I started with dirt bikes at an early age. Almost had a dealer sponsor ride until I turned my right ankle into a jigsaw puzzle. I never cared for road bikes. I'd rather hit a tree than an an 18-wheeler.

Very impressive, Larry. It would be a great buy for new pilots, but a step backwards for P4 Pro owners.

Earl.

It's got a nice camera and I like the portability. I plan to fly this weekend for the first time in over a month. I'm going out tomorrow for a while and do some practice flights to check out the software and aircraft. The last flight I had some software problems and loss of video signal. It might have been the location as far as the video. Lots of metal structures around.

It's all in how expertly you know how to video and how to process your video. It's a real learning curve for me.

My biggest problem right now is video editing. I've tried Sony Movie Studio but don't like it. Maybe I need to work with it some more. My brother uses it and had some good results. I'm having trouble with titles and fades. It's hard to get the timeline right. There's plenty of software out there. I just need to find a good package and learn how to use it.

I'll put Part 107 training notes on a separate thread.
