I love the look of the 1961 - 1964 Impala hardtop, bubble top, and convertibles! The sedans not so much. Sure would be cool if today’s car manufacturers would resurrect that classic hardtop style.

348 , 250 HP.......which incidentally is the same engine block as the famed 409..that the Beach Boys made famous

The 348 is a good engine. You probably don't need the 409 these days ;-) congratulations.

A high school buddy drove a '58 Impala with a 348 - he said you could see the gas gauge needle move toward empty as you cruised down the Interstate. Of course, in those days in Tennessee the Interstate speed limit was 75mph and he was probably doing 85, maybe more.

For sure and it was probably running 104 octane :b. I suffed a 348 in a 56 Chevy pickup and had a similar experience but it was an incredibly smooth and powerful engine.

BTW, I had a '58 convertible with the 348cu inch. It was a hog off the line, but man, once it gathered some steam, that baby ripped. (Broke 2-120mph speedometers....lol.)
