Americans aren’t happy with companies that severed ties with the National Rifle Association (NRA) in the wake of the tragic Florida high school shooting this month, according to a Wednesday Morning Consult poll.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Norton Antiv***s, LifeLock, MetLife, Alamo, National Car Rental and SimpliSafe cut ties with the NRA in response to the Feb. 14 Parkland, Fla., high school shooting that claimed the lives of 17 individuals.

Morning consult surveyed 2,201 adults from Feb. 23-25 regarding their views of each company. The polling agency asked each respondent if they had a “favorable or unfavorable” view of each company before and after they were informed of the company’s choice to cut ties with the NRA.

Net favorability among all adult respondents fell between two and 18 percent for all companies after subjects learned of cutting ties with the NRA.

Before respondents were informed of MetLife’s decision, they had a 45 percent favorable and a 12 percent unfavorable rating. After respondents found out, unfavorable views doubled to 24 percent.

Republican respondents experienced the most precipitous drops in net approval. For example, net favorability among Republican respondents fell 61 percentage points for Enterprise-Rent-A-Car.

Democratic respondents saw a jump in approval once they were informed of each companies move. Democratic respondents net favorability for rose dramatically for the majority of the companies. After learning of MetLife’s decision to extricate itself from the NRA, Democratic respondents net favorability rose 23 percent.

b Americans aren’t happy with companies that seve... (show quote)

The only thing this points out is that doing the RIGHT thing isn't always popular but that shouldn't stop you from doing it.

Thanks for the article.

Why is it the right thing?

How does not giving someone a discount on a car rental stop a school shooting but declaring schools to be gun free zone will?

Please elaborate.

You're asking the wrong question.

It's not the Not giving a discount.

It's saying that you don't support a cause, that appears to promote gun violence.

This may not stop gun violence, but it certainly keeps the spotlight on the subject.

How did they promote gun violence?

Please elaborate so I can, once again, expose your deceitful nature and/or lack of knowledge.

So my l*****t friends can’t tell me how the NRA promotes gun violence, other than Rachel told them ... sans evidence ... that this is what they are required to believe?

I have honestly never met a group so devoid of intellectual curiosity and integrity as the l*****ts in this forum.

The NRA promotes easy access to weapons with a high rate of k**l for civilian use. That's where your gun violence comes in. I don't think anyone would be silly enough to actually promote 'gun violence' in those words.

Even Moses never brandished an AR-15 in public.

Although the other NRA guy likes the pose with his Viagra and f**g posturing. All the bastard needs now is a bible and a copy of the constitution to defile.

Actually they championed the current background check system and have petitioned to strengthen keeping criminals and crazies from buying guns.

Rachel didn’t tell you that I see.

So did Obama. "Take their guns first, Due Process later." DJT, more radical than Obama. Oh wait, that was yesterday, he's back on board today. He's a slippery one.

It would be silly for the NRA to use those words wouldn't it? The effect of the gun club and their promotion of easy access to weapons with a high rate of k**l for civilian use is plain for all to see, has been for a long time now. The reason these companies are withdrawing NRA support is customer feedback. Simple as that.

Calling me deceitful is just name calling to put me on the defensive.
That didn't work.

Lack of knowledge.......Hmmmmmmmm......Lack of knowledge about what exactly?

My question is....What is the NRA doing to reduce gun violence?
Certainly it is in their interest to assure people that they, the NRA, doesn't support the k*****g of innocent people?
Do they?

Personally, I don't care if there are billions of guns in personal arsenals.
I only care when they're used to k**l innocent people.

IMHO, that is what most/all Liberals care about.

How is a rental car company obligated to give a discount for affiliation with a specific organization? Do you desire a law that would require it? I thought you were the big free enterprise guy.

Assuming full gun control happens, who would the big losers - gun and ammunition industry? Why is this sector neglected in the discussions?
