Any thoughts on the best source for used Nikon lenses? What about Nikon USA as a source for refurbished lenses?

FWIW I have bought refurbished from Cameta and used from KEH. No problems with either. Cameta has in store 1 year warranty on the refurbished they sell. KEH warranty on their used is 6 months. Direct refurbished from Nikon is the shortest warranty but do not recall exact length. That will be stated on their web page.

EBay, KEH, B&H, Adorama. Those four would be a start. Good luck.

Adorama, B&H, Cameta, and KEH are the way to go for price. They provide their own warranty, but I don't know who does the refurb, or check. Nikon might be a little more but the lenses are checked by factory techs. Buy with confidence from any of them.

I recently purchased a refurbished lens direct from Nikon. I took advantage of their 10% off sale. No complaints

I have gotten some great deals from surfing the classified section on Fred Miranda's website. Never had a problem, either.

I've got a 28-300 refurb from Nikon, and never had any issues. They are dropping prices on some items.

I have bought used lenses from many different channels (Nikon, Craigslist, eBay, Adorama, Amazon.....) depending on where I can find a particular lenses. I typically start with Amazon because they seem to have the largest inventory of used lenses, good pricing and typically good customer service. Also, I always check the reviews of the sellerep, if available and use common sense (when buying from Craigslist or eBay). I haven’t had any cproblems.

Nikon USA is fine for refurbished lenses, especially when they have their sales. Cameta Camera is also great and adds another 9 months warranty to Nikon’s 90 day warranty. For used, KEH, Used Photo Pro (Roberts Camera), and eBay have been good choices for me. Both KEH and Roberts offer 180 warranties on used gear. When buying on eBay try to determine if the lens you are buying was sold by a Nikon authorized retailer to assure that it was not grey market. Grey market lenses will not be repaired by Nikon USA.
