Rumor has it that the south entrance road to Grand Canyon NP is closed for repairs. Had planned on entering the park that way in about 2 weeks. Anyone heard anything about accessibility?

It may be under construction/repair, but certainly not closed. Probably more like restricted. Best bet is to call them. (928) 638-7888

I hate to ask what is a common question here - but have you performed an Internet search? I searched
"Grand Canyon South Entrance closed", and after three pages of listings I found two articles about the recent government shutdown, but most of them are about things 'closest'.

South Entrance Road will be closed between the Market Plaza and GC Village, BUT you can still access both via different routes. See explanations and map from the NPS website.

And there is always the east entrance although it is further.

I just returned from a trip to the Grand Canyon, south rim. The east road and hermit's rest roads were only closed until they could clear the snow. There is some construction on going in the village, but the the roads are definitely open,

It's a shame that the road is closed. We got there late at night, no moon, and as we drove in we came across some huge deer and elk. We just stopped the car and enjoyed them until they cleared the road.
