Photoshop 3D Question

I was trying to use 3D option on Spherical Panoramic image. (New in Photoshop CC latest update). First I duplicated the image then I changed my workspace to 3D and then when I clicked the 3D option on the Menu at the top of the workspace. The Spherical Panorama option is greyed out and I could not use it. What am I doing wrong. Thanks for your help and speedy response.

I don't use 3D often as it takes ages to render the image when I'm finished (processor too slow).
I think you might have to change the image to 8 bits to get it to work the way you want it.
