Hi Folks,
I have the above Lens available (I don't need it, but received it as a kit lens with a 7D Mk ii body), and it's best described as VERY gently used (e.g. not a mark on it!). I think I've shot 2-300 various images, just to prove it's working fine, and I was VERY impressed with the quality of pictures and usability. I think it retails for around $350 new, and comes with front and back caps, a reasonable protective filter, and the EW-73B lens hood.
Anyone interested and living in the lower 48 has one simple question to answer, and one little favor to do for me.
Please check out the picture (taken with this very lens!) and tell me what is the common name AND the latin name of the creature in the cropped photograph?
The first person to answer here with the correct common name and latin name will win the lens. And here's where the favor comes in. It will cost me a little to mail this out to the lucky winner; in exchange, I'd like that person to donate $25 (or more, if they wish!) to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society:

That was just the only one that looked somewhere close--even at that, the color was not right.

Sorry, not a short eared owl either.
Hereβs a clue, this owl is from another continent (not Europe).

The location would help determine the ID. Could you give us that piece of info or would that give too much away?

From what I can tell it is very similar to the birds in the brown owl family.
Specifically: a Brown Wood Owl (Strix leptogrammica)
Great Horned Owl
Bubo Virginianus

The Winner is pmorin!
Yes, this is an Asian Brown Wood Owl; Strix Leptogrammica.
If the Winner would like to pm me, we can then arrange the transfer. 1 Lens in exchange for a small donation to the LLS. π

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I am already thinking of where to start with it. Again, thanks.
