First test shot of Lensbaby Velvet 85. Just grabbed something to shoot and see what it does. First shot with minor white adjustment. Second one added white vignette. I can tell this will be fun.

I think it was f/4 might have been open more. I wanted the eyes to be clear and then I thought the nose should be at least almost clear. The lens will take some thought when using it. From what I see the sharpest focus will always be in the center therefor if you want the focus somewhere else, creating the rule of thirds, you will need to step back getting more in the picture then crop for your desired look. For me I doubt I will open the lens more than 2.8, but will see.

Attached is one more edit of the above picture. Wanted to sharpen up the eyes and nose. Thanks for all you encuragement.

I knew you would love it and I like your new post... and I mostly shoot in f4, I just can't accept that much blurr... but it's always fun to experiment and the worst than can happen is to delete... which I do alot!! One thing about using a Lensbaby, it does slow you down and makes you think with each shot. Lensbaby U on line did post my Journey Story and I tell you, getting my first Sweet 35 a little over a year ago, has opened up a whole new world and it just makes an ordinary shot, look special and not like everyone elses!!

Have fun, Jim and post in closeups or gallery... lensbaby isn't very popular on this site, but if you post on flickr, they love it!!

I bought a light meeter 4 years ago and never used it. I think I will bring it out and see if that helps with exposure settings while using this lens. I wasn't to excited about the camera's exposure bar. Took some fiddling to get exposure right.

I posted in this section being just mildly happy with this shot and Lensbaby owners would understand the learning curve I would be taking. Will get some live flowers to work out some kinks and become more knowledgeable.
Thanks Jim

Jim, lovely photos! I'm contemplating the Lensbaby Velvet 85, or the 56. Just not sure and if you don't mind posting more photos, that would be great! It looks like a tremendous amount of fun and I love that "dreamy" look.
Thanks for sharing
