I'd look on craigs list if you live in or near a big city. They're out there you just have to look, not be in a hurry and be patient!!!
I bought a 1Dx mkl for $1750 with 185K on the clock and in great shape.
Drove 30 miles, took a few snaps, handed the guy the cash and we both drove away with a smile on our faces!!! At that price he sold it in ONE day!!!!
Everything I saw on eBay was either totally beat up or REALLY over priced.
