Lily of the Incas

Alstroemeria aurea - the "Lily of the Incas."

These were lighted with three flashes, one behind a sheet of white Plexiglas, one diffused flash from below and another from high on the right. I cleaned up edges a little here and there, and repaired flaws in the flowers in post using an old version of Paint Shop Pro..

Comments and criticism more than welcome.

Mike

Beautiful shots all. Interesting lighting scheme, but for me... perhaps because it is the way I have always done.... I like a gray-black background. This would contast the yellow. My friend and I went to Lowes... shot flowers... I held a black felt behind the flower for her and she for me... great shots some with flash.

I did a download of one above and did a bucket fill with a dark gray.. the white competes with the yellow the dark gray/black does not.

Thanks. This was something different than what I usually do. A dark background would not have captured the translucency.

Here is a comparison with another blossom I am working with.

I like your shots Mike. I have posted with black background and white background too. When posting in ViewBug and found I get a better responses with something in the background not much just a hint of color. I read your light set up and have tried many variations such as yours. I am most pleased when adding a jell on the flash thats firing through the back using frosted white acrylic. You might have seen my latest post, the color is stronger than necessary but you can see what I am describing.

I like what you've done. It reminds me of the Orient.
