*Originally marked Sale Pending - The buyer cancelled due to financial problems. The lens is, once again, available. Already packed and ready to ship:
Yes, this is the newer, US version, in original box with all original accessories, case, end caps, papers and purchase receipt.
Plus...Upgraded (Kirk Enterprises) tripod collar and, brand new Nikon 77mm NC Clear lens protective filter.
Perfect working condition...optically Pristine! This lens is superb up to the D800-D810. But, my new D850 requires more exotic glass to get every pixel of resolution. Sells new for $2300. I'll let this one go, along with the upgrades for $1500. I'll pay shipping and insurance. ConUS only. PayPal only.

Disagree, my 80-400mm works great on my D850.

Glad to hear it. Mine does not. It’s not “bad”, but it just doesn’t have the supersharp resolution that it displayed in the D800 and D810...even after fine tuning.
Thom Hogan reports the same thing and is considering dropping the lens from his “recommended D850 lenses” list.
So what would you think about using it on a Nikon D5300? I saw it reviewed but it was tried on a full frame camera.
I'm almost certain that SOMEONE will disagree...but most FX lenses work exceptionally well on DX cameras.
In fact, Nikon includes the OPTION for shooting in DX within the menus of the "800/810/850 line (and maybe other of their cameras I'm not familiar with).
The 80-400 works beautifully on the 850 in DX mode. The only reason I'm not keeping it is simply that I want to shoot at the camera's full FX resolution.
Even at the full 46+mp, the 80-400 is GOOD...but just not as razor sharp as at 36mp or less.
The smaller, DX, sensor uses the central "sweet spot" of the lens.
In most cases this results in a BETTER image than the lens would deliver in the FX!
Hope this helps. There are numerous articles on this subject in highly respected online sites.
Hi...your message said “”PM SENT”... but that’s all I’ve got.
I’m trying to reach you now because I just received an offer to buy the lens, just a few minutes before I saw YOUR message.
Since you had contacted me FIRST, I didn’t want to sell it out from under you if you had decided you wanted it.
Please let me know ASAP. The other buyer wants it in a hurry!
Thanks...
Here. I don't think anyone around here is Jack the Ripper.
