On the side of the Heron,there is a marking that looks like a chic.Or just my imagination?

It does look like the beak of a chick under the wing. Great capture!

I see what you mean. Underneath a birds feathers are downy ones. That's what this is. Great photo, BTW!

Are you talking about the downy feathers or the rust colored ones. The rusty ones are normal markings. The downy ones, that is too small to be a chick. Besides, GBHs would not carry a baby in such a manner, as a Duck would.

This is an extraordinarly clear photo. I don't think its a chick, but some kind of a wound. The skin patch loods defeathered.
