I'm just starting to play in manual mode and have posted some photos from my trip to the zoo yesterday. I also recently purchased a Tamron 18-200 as my walk-around lens. I was very hot, so many of the animals were holed up and not really anxious for good photo ops. C&C welcomed!

great subjects. It may be my aging eyesight, but these appear to be slightly overexposed. Thanks for sharing

I think you're right about the overexposure. It was high noon, the worst time for photographing, and as I said before, I am shooting in manual, something I'm just getting used to. I'll have to experiment some more. Thanks for looking!

Believe me, I've made the same mistake...normally when I don't look at the light meter.

Thanks for sharing, they are still great even a little over exposed. I have been trying more manual also so know the problems. Bee

Thanks for looking, Bee. I've got to spend a little more time with my camera manual. I thought I was using the light meter properly, but I'm just not quite there. Oh well...

Well we all have to go through that as we learn. I am still learning and I get things overexposed. I like the flamingo one anyway. I like to get in close when I do water lilies and just get a couple of them with the lily pads, but there's something about how yours have a diamond shape on the pic that makes it interesting. If it weren't overexposed it would be perfect. Just keep practicing and you'll get there. You didn't do too bad for shooting high noon.

They all seem to be taken at midday when the light is most unflattering #1 can be forgiven since the otters expression is priceless

You're absolutely right, Larrie. It was high noon and really dreadful light. Next time I'll be there in the late afternoon and make up for the faux pas! Thanks for looking.
