The persistence of anyone to want to own an assault rifle is based on selfish ignorance.
They have no purpose other than to feed the ego.

I have to agree. Assault weapons are made for one reason and that's not for the home owner. I am a gun owner and would not give up my hand gun. It is all anyone needs to protect my home. If we were being invaded then every home should have an assault gun issued by our goverment.

Would someone be so kind as to explain to me what an "assault weapon" is?

I'm fairly knowledgeable about firearms, (unlike most of you here,) and I know what an assault RIFLE is. I also know new ones are not available for sale in the USA since 1986 and wh**ever existed before that date are very expensive and highly controlled.

But I haven't the foggiest what an assault weapon is. I would think that would be something you use to assault somebody. A rock, a stick, a knife, a car, a truck, etc.

Take your time, I'll wait.

Well, I'm a heck of a lot better-looking than you are, that's for sure.

I've had to work twice as hard but that's been easy.

I guess that also makes me more intelligent that you are.

So, you don't know the definition of an "assault weapon" either, right?

You might think you do, but you really don't.

Oh Boy! This should be good! Don't forget a folksy anecdote about never seeing a gun fire itself.
