Not being a Mac user I am not sure what I'm viewing here. But if it is what I think it is, you are trying to use the Mac O/S to copy Canon 5D RAW files from one HDD to another. Do Macs have a Raw File viewer? There is a add on CODEX for viewing Raw file thumbnails with Windows (Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10). I know there are UHH Mac experts out there.
You can preview the RAWs with Lr or Ps ACR or Bridge, and actually should be able to sort and copy/move from there. But I too prefer using my Windows O/S for copying or Moving files. Good luck. You have updated your system for your 5D iv camera?
Update your software and see what happens.

Trying to copy straight from the camera to LR>Seagate backup drive. I have always shot raw with no issue like this. I will check on raw file readers. Thank you Lamiaceae.
Via the Lens... will check to see if this camera has the latest drivers. The system software is High Sierra. LR will have to stay the same.
I had this exact issue the other day. It is not a system or camera software issue. You will have to upgrade Lightroom to the latest release, or use a third party RAW converter.

Third-party raw converter: On UHH I was pointed to Adobe's:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/adobe-dng-converter.htmlOnce you do the initial setup as to where your converted files should go (I said to keep in same folder as the raw+jpg), you can do an entire folder of new pics at once - while you fix your tea
In the folder with my newest pics I would "select all" then drag to the dng software's shortcut icon on my desktop. It would open automatically and I'd then click "convert." I know you use a Mac; hopefully you can translate.

The first entry in your link mentions PS Elements 13. That is where my own issue started. It was no longer supported (not updating) so it couldn't read the raw files from my newest cameras (Olympus, Panasonic). Do you think there is a vast conspiracy to force us into buying new software
and hardware every two or three years?

That's the issue all right! Their way or the highway...
