I have a few prints I would like to have duplicates made from. Any recommendations where to get this done? Don't want to lose the original. Live in NC, but willing to send them off to a reputable company for duplicates.

Check with a local camera store if you have one, most offer scanning and duplication services.

Making a print from a print is going to loose you a lot of resolution. Do not think you'll be happy with the end results.

You can scan them or have them scanned with a high resolution scanner. Or you can use a good camera with good natural lighting and take close-up pictures of them. They won't be perfect but you can get acceptable results. I've scanned some old family photos and done the other way with close-up photos of them. Both got good results. I was able to clean up the white spots and damaged areas to make very acceptable photos.

Scanning and duplicating produces excellent results, I do it all the time in my store. Rrsolution loss is no issue at all unless you try to enlarge the prints, then it gets real iffy really fast.

Back in the old days, we would just tape it to the wall and take a high res shot of it. Ya, ya, we had some lines on the wall to keep it level and it was beside good source of natural light. This will equal or even exceed what a scanner can do.
Use a tripod, your lowest ISO, and the best lens you have.

You can tape the prints to a wall and shoot them one at a time filling the frame (with your camera on a tripod). A better way: You can do it at photo-equipped Walgreens and CVS stores, assuming the print is no more than 8x10. They have do-it-yourself scanners that create a file that they can then make prints from. If you have a friend with a scanner and printer, so much the better. >Alan

I often take 100 year old prints, scan them with my Canon LIDE 210 scanner at 600 dpi. The detail that is pulled out you never see on the original. The original was about a 4" x 5".
