I am looking for a light weight tripod connection (plate not the tripod head) that screws directly onto a 1/4" screw- not the quick connection plate that connects to the camera. Although I will need that too. Not looking for brand specific. But lightweight. Thanks.

Are you looking to make it so you can have a QR for interchanging tripod heads ??

I’m having difficulty picturing what you are looking for. The ballhead I have “connects” directly to the Arca-type quick release that attaches to the camera; the geared head I have also connects directly to the piece attached to the camera. Perhaps you can attach a photo of the top of your tripod so we can “picture” your setup?

I'm not sure what you are describing. What is the name & model of your tripod? A plate would be listed at the manufacture's website or at a photography website such as B & H. Here's a link to that section at B & H Photo. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/browse/Tripods-Support/ci/8310/N/4075788771

No I don't think so. Think of connecting a camera to a monopod without a head- A connection plate screwed in directly to the monopod and then the camera to the connection plate via a quick release plate attached to the camera. Hope that makes sense. I have a Manfrotto set up but it is on the heavy side.

I know it is confusing. Maybe I should add a picture. I added another comment that might help.

I'm trying to avoid screwing the camera directly to the 1/4 " screw. That's a hassle.

I think it is called a "mounting plate". Have you considered contacting Manfrotto or B & H or other? I have found chats with B & H informative and helpful.
Don't give up!!

I currently have a Manfrotto tripod plate connected to the end of the PVC device so that I can attach my camera to the plate via a quick release plate instead of having to screw the camera on the 1/4 " screw each time. But the Manfrotto plate is heavy so I am looking for a light weight plate instead and a quick release plate that fits it. ( I did not take off the currently attached plate- hope you can see it ok)

Disregard the battery. I ran out of power in the middle of snapping these pictures.

I think you are right. I didn't have the terminology right so am getting hits for the quick release plate-

Yes- think that's it. I'm looking for cheap and light though if there is any such thing :)
