I have a Canon t5i. I want to operate the shutter remotely. I have the canon rc-6 remote that works very well.
This body has 5 shooting modes
single shooting - press shutter button- one shot instantly
continuous - press shutter button - continuous shots instantly
self timer 10 seconds and shutter fires or using the remote, 2 seconds and shutter fires.
2 second - 2 second delay and shutter fires one shot
2 second continuous - long delay and the shutter fires 2 shots
I want a remote that will use the single shooting mode; that when I push the button, the camera instantly fires.
So far I have not found this. I intend to shooting something very dependent on timing, firing at an exact moment. I don't want to wait two seconds for the camera to fire. Has anyone found a way to do this?
Am I going to have use a cable release?
Have you read the instructions?
From B&H:
The Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Control is a simple, compact, infrared remote control that makes it possible to fire a camera wirelessly from as far as 16' (4.8m). The RC-6 will operate in either 2-second delay mode or will instantly take a shot. The RC-6 is only 2.5" (63.5mm) tall and can fit easily into your pocket or on a keychain.

I can tell you what I use, VELLO FreeWave Plus. Simple to use and works out to 200 meters. When I am close by I can tell it works instantly, no way to tell if it is the same way from a distance. Guess my only regret is I didn't spend a little extra and buy the one that can be triggered by lightning so I can catch the storms coming across the valley or over a lake. If I recall it was only about $80 so it didn't break the bank compared to some others on the market. Something for you to check out anyway. Good luck.
Doesn't the remote trigger using whatever shooting mode is set in the camera?

Ok, thanks, I believe you. I use the remote a lot. I don't know how to make it shoot instantly. My camera only has one mode to work with wireless remote and it invokes a 2 second delay; does not fire instantly.
Has anyone made this remote take an instant shot with a T5i?

I have had great luck with a set of Yongnuo RF-605s with various Canon cameras.
Check the app store. You may find a phone or tablet app that will do what you need.
You said it yourself. The camera has these modes:
This body has 5 shooting modes
single shooting - press shutter button- one shot instantly
continuous - press shutter button - continuous shots instantly
self timer 10 seconds and shutter fires or using the remote, 2 seconds and shutter fires.
2 second - 2 second delay and shutter fires one shot
2 second continuous - long delay and the shutter fires 2 shots
Make sure to put the camera in single shooting - press shutter button- one shot instantly
and your camera will take one shot instantly each time you press the remote button. If it doesn't, you've got something else wrong in your setup.

I appreciate your response but you have missed the point by a mile. My OP was asking how I could make the remote control fire the camera instantly with the RC-6 Remote. Of course I know how to operate my camera and it's shooting modes.
No one has been able to answer my question yet: How to get a Canon T5i to fire instantly with an RC-6 Wireless remote. This might not get solved. I'll probably look in to the suggestions for other remotes.
Thanks again for trying to help though.

no it does not. The T5i only has one shooting mode that supports a wireless remote.

These are flash triggers. I'll see if I can use them just to fire the shutter though. Thanks.

The RF-605s actually come with the proper shutter cables if I remember correctly.

Interesting. I suppose I may have circumvented any problem like this since I opted for the Vello RF remote that will work behind (or to the side of) the camera. Works great.
