It was a great rainy day after capturing this image. I used my Lumix point and shoot for a quick shot. It isn't perfect but it gives me a thrill to have been that close to my favorite bird. I couldn't have captured a focused image with my Nikon D750. Seldom/if ever do I get crisp images with my Nikon.

You certainly get crisp shots with your 750. What lens are you using and what shutter speed are you shooting at? Have you reviewed your technique? Have you checked focus on a tripod?

In the past with other cameras I had no problems with crispness. That's why I'm concerned/frustrated with the Nikon 750. I use the macro lens, 105mm 1:2G ED and my telephoto 70-3 mm 1:4.5 - 5.6 G. It doesn't seem to matter at what setting I'm using. (I have had Tamron lenses in the past.) I tripod and focus manually and on AF with and without using the timer. I've tried about every setting there is: Scene, A, S, M too. I'm very annoyed. I used to be able to get the flower pistil so crisp, not anymore with this camera. My point and shoot does a better job. I don't have a local individual to review this camera either to see it it's me or the camera.

What focus settings are you using? Try focus priority for shutter relalease, single focus point and single servo. If those don’t get sharp focus with a stationary object, send it to Nikon. I have a D800 and 850 so my menus are different from yours. The Nikon focus system is complex. You might have to spend some time with the manual. Or get a book - Thom Hogan writes the best Nikon manuals but there others.

For what it's worth - I have a D7100 and my sharpness results have been better and more consistent since I switched to back button focusing. Why? I have no idea, but it works.

Thank you for the suggestions. Yes the focusing is a lot more complicated than I've ever experienced. I'll give your suggestions a go. Spring is around the corner and I'll be snap-happy then. Wish me luck.
