It is a shame that at this point in our country’s life that there is so much turmoil. The Russian medaling in politics hit an all-time this time. Putin did not care which Republican got the White House. He feared Hillary Clinton more than anyone else. Now at this point I have lost even more faith in the FBI. If they had spent even one percent the time on investigating Nikolas Cruz there would not be 17 lost lives. Current laws require law enforcement agencies to communicate issues up the chain to top government agencies. Communication of concerns are to go from Local to County to State and then to the Federal Government. This is not happening. If it did many people who should not have access to fire arms would not be able to purchase them and again would be placed on lists again going up the chain of notification when they tried. This may help explain why the general populous has less faith in Law Enforcement. We don’t need more gun laws we need more communication.

And you base this opinion upon what?
I really don't think the FBI could have done much even if they did get involved because of so called privacy laws currently on the books. Unless this kid had actually committed a crime they wouldn't have been able to touch him. They can't force people to go to a psychiatrist unless someone Booker Acts (or something similar) to get them into an environment where they can be evaluated. In my book local officials had every right to have him committed based on the Facebook threats but if the ACLU or a local lawyer got involved they probably wouldn't been able to even do that. The laws need to be updated to handle this kind of individual and that is going to be very difficult especially with organizations like the ACLU.

We have politics every where, 24-7. Can’t we just keep this forum for photography?

Your point on needing more communication [AND listening] is spot on.
Background checks stop a lot of people from legally buying firearms. However, nothing stops criminals from buying illegal firearms or anything else .
