Have Olympus users had problems using this lens on their Olympus camera? Specifically focusing or IS issues? I see that there is a firmware update to correct blurred images when using it with an Olympus camera with the limiter switch set to other than "full". And if you did the firmware update, did it correct the problem satisfactorily?

You might want to search Daniel J. Cox’s site for an article I saw about this situation.

I didn't find much on Daniel's site specific to my question but I did find this although it isn't a very clear screen picture. I'm wondering if anyone did this update and it helped.

There was a post over at mu-43.com a few weeks ago on this. If I remember it did help, but it’s still not perfect.

Dan Cox was one of the first to bring up the issue with the lens. Somewhere on his site was the article explaining how to install the update, and some commentary on it.

Updating lens firmware is easy on (using) Panasonic cameras. I've done it twice. The Panasonic instructions are about as clear as mud, though! Typical, badly translated gibberish.

I have done a couple of updates but didn't see this one until recently. It came to my attention when I sold this lens on Ebay only to have it returned because of issues on her Olympus camera :( When I get it back I will update the lens and maybe keep or maybe re-list. First time I have ever had a return. Pricey return since I have to pay return postage and the original postage. Even though I had a "no returns" I couldn't not accept a return on a lens not working well on her camera. Wondering if I should put a disclaimer about using it on other than Panasonic if I re-list.

That’s rediclous that someone would return it. You should post it at mu-43.com. If you’re not a member there, I’m sure you could use my name and probably a few other members here that are members there as well in your references section in the buy/sell section. I’d love to buy it, but I’m piss poor right now.

Appreciate your offer- actually I think I am a member so I'll check into it-thanks. The lens works fine on my Gx8. Before I re-list anywhere I am thinking of sending the lens into Panasonic so they can take a look at it so I can re-list with confidence.

It’s a known issue. Chances are, you got an early copy, without the update.

It’s worth checking Panasonic’s firmware update list and slapping each of your lenses onto your GX8. There is a menu setting — I think it’s called Version — that will list the firmware revisions for the body and attached lens. If any of them are old, updating is worth it. They fix bugs, improve performance, and add new features from time to time. Use a fully charged battery for the updates, and follow the procedures carefully.

How true. Very buyer friendly. They didn't waste any time making the funds unavailable on PayPal either. I always set aside the funds until I know the buyer is satisfied so it wasn't a problem but still...

The complete Panasonic camera and lens update list is here: http://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/fts/index2.html#dsc_dl

I checked my 100-400 and it is current. The 100-400 update (actually two) is about a year ago. The text describing the updates is here: http://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/fts/dl/rs100400.html

I am curious about upgrading the firmware on the P/L 100-400 and the Olympus OM-D EM1 MKII. Can I do the upgrade by connecting the Oly body to my desktop and going to the Panasonic website to do the download. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
