I have used LightRoom for years, but I recently purchased a Nikon 3400, and found that I cannot upload my RAW pictures to LightRoom. Is there a solution?

The D3400 is supported by Lightroom 6.7 or higher. The current version is 6.14 I believe. Check what version you are using and update it by selecting help>updates.

Adding to mwsilvers reply, the chart from Adobe: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

If you can't or don't want to update, the other option is the (free) Adobe DNG Converter program.

Sometimes trying to update from the Help menu can take you to Adobe's offers for the subscription. If that happens, a direct download can come from here:

If you do decide to upgrade to the stand alone version of Lightroom, you don’t have to pay for the full version. On the Adobe site, when you get to the final screen for paying, there is a box to check to get an upgrade. Checking the box will change the amount to be charged to the lower upgrade price (if memory serves me right I think it was $79).

Maybe I'm all wet or different, but I always transfer from the camera to my hard drive to a folder of my choice. Then I'll import to lightroom to wherever I want.
