Canon Pro-10 size question (a re-post)

(I posted this in the "printer ... " section a few days ago and only got one reply. Maybe better response here.)

Before trying Canon, maybe a Hogger has the answer.

I have had the Pro-10 for a few years now, and have always used the "normal" paper settings: "letter" and "A3+" for almost everything. (usually 8x10s and 11x15 [yes, 11xfifteen]. Tonight I was just printing some personal work, and on the "setup" page, for paper size, I wondered what size "untitled" was. On selecting "untitled", the preview 5x7 was *lost* on the preview. Could barely see it, or even the 8x10.

Hmmm ... Just for fun, I selected the 15" wide and 25" long. Well, 15" went back to 13.73, but 25" stayed. Long story short, on "untitled" print size, the setup page intimated that I could go to 13.73"x26.3"!!!
A quick check on the printer: the "top" feed only opens up to 13.25", BUT THE MANUAL FEED TRAY CAN ACCEPT 14.125"!

Have any Pro-10 users any experience with printing something that size? I would sure love to print out a couple of Pano's, and for sure, the 14x20 size is almost exactly the same ratio as the 11x15s I like. (I remember hearing or reading someone once say they could print up to 14x22 - although I have never actually known anyone who has.)

SO, If someone has tried it and it works, I'm going to call a friend who has a 24" printer and try to talk him out of a few feet of paper. Or maybe my local camera store (plug for Hunt's in Manchester NH), where they see me several times a month, will "loan" me a sheet of 17x22 that they use to demo the Pro-1000.

Canon support article for Pro-10 (same sizes for Pro-100 which a lot more of us use).
Manual feed can go up to 14"x23". Feed tray can print up to 13"x26". These of course require custom settings and only some printing apps can do it. There are tutorials on doing it.

Most all printers can get beyond what's in their name when using manual feed, that's just a normal thing. If a printer says its good for 17 x 22 for example (as my 3880 does), that applies to standard printing paper made for that width, and for 17" width, 22" length is pretty much the biggest one can buy in standard size, but that does not mean the printer itself is limited to that size. I can print 17'' x 38" regularly on my 3880 (the manual states, I can print to 38 and a half inch, but once I managed to get a 17' x 40" print!

I've printed 14x17 in my Pro 10. The printer is collecting dust right now - I've switched to a 17" Epson P800, primarily because I needed the larger size. That being said, the Epson has had fewer problems with nozzle clogs after sitting idle for a while. Both print exceptional quality aa long as I pay attention to matching papers and profiles.
