Right, this was only followed by the 7/11 Bombings that k**led 52 and injured over 700 people in 2005, the Cumbria shootings that k**led 12 and injured 11 in 2010, the Manchester Arena Bombing that k**led 23 and injured over 400 people last year, followed by the June 17 London Bridge Attack that k**led 8 and injured 48 people. I'd say they've pretty much solved this mass k*****g thing by banning all the handguns.

At the time I said this was an over the top knee jerk reaction. I still believe that. I have several friends who were gun owners, all very responsible people.

I am 72 and can vividly remember taking firearms to school right on the school bus quite frequently when my brother and I wanted to hunt on a classmates farm. We were probably 14 years old. The ONLY people to say anything was the bus driver who said he would like to go with us, the teacher who asked us to put the firearms (I am talking 12 gauge shotgun and numerous shells and usually a semi automatic 22 rifle or sometimes larger caliber) in the back coat closet, similar to a closet with sliding doors. There was no lock on the door and everyone in the class and even the whole school had access to those firearms. Not once in the years we did that did anyone ever touch the firearms or ammunition. My brother and I also collected cartridges and would openly trade them with classmates right in the classroom prior to the class starting. One of our teachers had a small semi automatic pistol which she brought to school so my brother and I could look at it. This was in New York State.

Hundreds of schools and colleges, right here in America, had rifle clubs where students were taught to shoot a firearm and to use it safely.

I set up this scene to point out that it isn't the guns but the type of society we have become. These days to even have a firearm in your vehicle on school property and in the parking lots of many businesses is illegal. The sight of someone carrying a firearm in public, even if it is a police officer, is offensive to many little snowflakes who have no idea that firearms are used for good vs evil many times a day all over America. Put simply the newspapers do not generally report that a firearm was used to repel a burglar from a house, that the display of a firearm was used to thwart a car jacking and so on. There was a principal of a high school a few years who had a firearm in his vehicle who stopped a school shooting. Of course the Liberals do not want that information out there for the rest of us to see.

Allow me to ask what new law(s) could be enacted right now that will absolutely stop these school shootings? We already have over 25,000 laws on the books in America against firearms and violence. Surely one of those might suffice. But Liberals insist on living in a utopian state where nobody is ever injured or even offended. I am sure the recent k**ler in Florida broke numerous laws before even entering the school property. He then k**led 17 people before being apprehended. Try using some common sense rather than emotion and think about this please: If this i***t POS was intent on committing murder of numerous people, why would he ever care a whit about any new law that you might think of enacting. Why does that not make sense to you?

Most here know I have 30 years experience in law enforcement and corrections. I started on death row in a maximum security prison and then retired from a women's prison, also rated as maximum security. Because I have always had an interest in firearms I asked inmates over the years what they thought of laws against firearms. Every one of them, male and female said they could care less what laws were passed. They don't obey laws. That is the type of people they are. They are criminals. Why should we even expect them to obey laws. As a matter of fact there is a federal law that states that criminals cannot even touch a firearm, let alone possess one. Yet felons are arrested every day in possession of a firearm.

I would love to have no school shootings. Do not think for a moment that I am for k*****g anyone at all or that I approve of felons having firearms. But I am pointing out that passing new laws against what you call Assault Rifles will do no good. These rifles are used every day by millions of people for self defense, target shooting, hunting, shooting at tin cans and so on. What you are asking is similar to telling someone who drives a Ferrari or Corvette capable of speeds up to 180 mph to give up that vehicle and drive a Ford Pinto or a Chevy Impala. It isn't the vehicle nor is it the firearm that is the problem. America has a problem with some of its people. It is the people that have to change.

Well put, Dennis.

Everyone wants to whine, or scream for more laws, but no one wants to address the failures of the current laws and systems, or the laws that conflict with each other, or the apathetic society (at best) we have become, or our lack of support for law enforcement, or the fact that we have raised a generation and a half of snowflakes who were told competition was bad and never allowed to lose at anything, who had mommy assist them in enrolling in college classes.

It seems no one wants to analyze the problem, but everyone wants to apply a political platitude to it.

Thank you. I can't agree with you more. Everyone wants to make just one villain here while excusing any and all other causes.

We now have a society, much different than what I and you probably grew up. During my school years students were encouraged to excel in ALL aspects of their life whether it be sports, academics, work, play etc. We were taught to never give up, try try again until you succeed and always try to be a winner. But these days and from years ago the Liberal thinking (yes, I blame Liberal thinking for the horse s**t problems we have today) has been that everyone is a winner, there are no losers. Just do your best and all will be fine, failure IS an option and so on. I well remember right after Bill Clinton was impeached and school children began c***ting on tests in school and lying. One father said on a news program that his son, caught c***ting on an exam, stated words to the effect, The President lied and that was OK so why shouldn't I. Corruption is tolerated today in politics. Of course the politicians say it isn't but it is tolerated until they are caught. Look at the actors and actresses who tolerated the likes of Harvey Weinstein and indeed Bill Clinton. Everything was fine even though they KNEW what was going on. Now that they have been caught these same people have taken on the mantra of, Leave it to us. We will stand up for what is right, even though they were all doing wrong for years. The darling of the Liberals, Oprah Winfrey, KNEW all along what Harvey Weinstein was doing, groping and raping these young starlets. I believe she even acted as a pimp for him by providing young ladies for him to, "interview", in his hotel room. People in the Weinstein corporation who were paying off these people to avoid a law suit also knew exactly what he was doing. Our own Congress has been paying hush money in the millions to women who were abused by our Congressmen and maybe women. Of course this money comes from you and me. Yet after this all blows over I guarantee it will happen again.

A few days ago I read where our Army Drill Instructors are having a hard time training new enlistees because they have the Liberal millennial mindset. They have no discipline and no drive to succeed. What poor examples for what is generally the finest fighting force in the world (except for the USMC of course).

America has to get back to where we are trained to succeed at all costs, to press on even though all looks to be lost, to be ethical in our lives. Without those basic principles we are lost as a nation.
